Halloween festivities are in full swing, but along with the traditions of haunted houses and sugar rushes is another yearly treat that’s here to tickle our fancies! Two BRAND NEW ghoulish (bath and body) treats have made their way to the shelves of LUSH Cosmetics storefronts all over and are sure to make your bath time rituals a lot more magical.
Along with the “Lord Of Misrule” bath bomb and “Pumkin” bubble bar are a whole slew of Christmas products that are available early (online only) like the highly coveted “Rose Jam” shower gel, and I myself have been dying to get a bottle of that shower gel in my possession so I was extremely excited when I found out it was online early and through Christmas season.
What do they smell like?
Lord Of Misrule smells amazing! It reminds me a lot of their “Tramp” shower gel that’s listed in the “Retro” section of their website because it smells mostly like patchouli when you initially smell it, but once the scent opens up a little bit more on your palate you get subtle hints of the black pepper and vanilla absolute in there.
Pumkin is a great fresh take on a fall bubble bar with its richly floral scent. It scented with Ylang Ylang, Orange Flower absolute, and Gardenia extract, and to me that’s exactly what it smelled like. Not in that particular order per se…I got stronger notes of the Gardenia, then I noticed the soft presence of Ylang Ylang and the sweet Orange Flower.
Rose Jam shower gel is quite literally the shower gel version of its sister the “bubbleroon” (similar to a bubble bar, but shaped like a puffy French macaron and a little bit smoother, rather than crumbly, when breaking it up under the faucet). The scent of Rose Jam is that of sweetly scented candy covered rose petals, in my opinion, but the official scents are Vanilla Pod Infusion, Goji Berry juice, organic Rose absolute, Rose oil, and Egyptian Geranium oil.
When used:
When used the Lord Of Misrule first froths up into a green and yellow fizz and then shortly after the red purple-ish wine colored center started to show up in little swirls. Like most of LUSH bath bombs this one is very moisturizing. After the fizzies die down and the froth dissolves some you’ll see that it looks like you’re taking a bath in a tub full of wine. I’m okay with that.
My bath with Pumkin wasn’t as exciting as my bath with Lord Of Misrule because let’s face it, bubble bars basically just make bubbles and turn the water colors sometimes, which is how bath bombs are too, but they put on a show in the beginning at least! I guess that’s why bath bombs are my favorite. Either way, I still love LUSH bubble bars because they’re scent masters, I’ll admit it. This bath may not have started off as exciting as a bath bomb bath would have, but it ended just as relaxing as the lot of them and of course this bubble bar turns your bathwaters into a festive fall orange.
A bath tip from me to you: Whenever I take a LUSH bath I like to shower first and then soak after so that I really get the benefits of the essential oils. Also, this way I can soak in clean bathwater the entire time rather than washing off right away in the bath and then soaking in a whole day’s worth of dirt and oil or soaking first and then scrubbing away almost everything that I’d just soaked up. This way you can also utilize the amazingly moisturizing essential oils that are in bath products like the bath bombs and bubble bars by using it as an in bath lotion. When exiting the bath, gently pat your skin dry rather than wiping yourself dry because wiping will cause you to wipe a good amount of the bath oils. After patting dry, rub the excess essential oils into your skin as if you were massaging in your lotion.
